Phood Community Farming

While you, as a Community Farmer, help farm and harvest your fresh vegetables, you also contribute to a sustainable and more social future. A look into the garden.

Ea picture is worth a thousand words. On 1.5 hectares we grow seasonal vegetables in nature all year round. Take a look at the Pick-your-own garden of our Phood Community Farm on the edge of South-East Eindhoven.

Learning about permaculture.

Every week we put our hands in the soil together and learn about permaculture.

You can pick your own hyper-locally grown vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit, following the seasons.

Greening the city together.

Together we care for the land in an ecological and regenerative way.

Create social impact.

Your participation will create more work and learning opportunities for young people who are at a distance from the labor market .

Online growth platform.

We learn from nature, but especially from each other and through tutorials, recipes and workshops .

Learning together. Growing together.

Welcome to the Phood Farm Pick-a-Pick Garden! Here you will learn all about growing regeneratively grown vegetables, inspired by permaculture. As a Community Farmer you will work together with like-minded gardeners, under the guidance of our enthusiastic farm leads Aafke and Pascale. Discover how to sow, harvest and even make your own compost—and enjoy the fresh air!

With a (growth) schedule you help out about 6 hours per month in our cozy permaculture (picking) garden. After working you can harvest whatever is available at that moment yourself – it doesn’t get any fresher! Through our online platform you stay informed about what is ready to pick each week and where you can find it. With a Pick-your-own garden subscription you farm and pick together the first few times, and then you can come and pick at your own time in consultation with Aafke and Pascale. The pick-your-own garden is open from Tuesday to Saturday.

Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere—it’s accessible, fun, delicious, and super fresh! Gardening together is not only good for the vegetables, but also for your health and strengthens the bond with other gardeners. We grow unsprayed, local, and regeneratively grown products. And you can taste it!

Veelgestelde vragen.

You register for a membership for the Phood Farm Pick-your-own garden. This subscription costs €360 per year per person. If you want to harvest for 2 people or more, that is also possible. After this you are a Community Farmer at Phood Farm and you can participate and harvest yourself in our pick-your-own garden.

Harvesting follows the natural rhythm of the seasons. In the summer the harvest will of course be more abundant than in late winter or early spring. However, there will be work on the land every week, even in the winter, and there will be something to harvest almost every week.

Yes. If you take out a subscription now, you will temporarily receive a €100 voucher for our Phood Farm indoor products, such as mushrooms, microgreens, kombucha, oils and broths. This voucher is valid for 1 year and you will receive it until the next season starts again on March 15th. In addition, as long as you are a member, you will receive 25% discount on all products in our indoor farm shop !

We are working together on the Community Farm. We ask for per person 6 hours per month to farm with you throughout the year. This strengthens the sense of community, ensures a larger harvest and is also very pleasant. Together we make something beautiful!

It is desirable to help out on the land. We do this together and will grow and harvest the beautiful things together. We need each other to make this a great success. So come and help out, enjoy, catch up and connect with each other and the land! If you prefer not to help out with growing your own vegetables, this picking garden may not be the right fit for you.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday between 09:30 and 12:00 we will first help and learn on the land together with our farm leads Aafke and Pascale (or interns present) and then harvest under supervision between 12:00 and 14:00. Between 12:00 and 12:30 there will be a clear central explanation by Aafke or Pascale on how to harvest. Outside these times you can also harvest independently after clear instructions via short videos and a list on the whiteboard. Every week we will also indicate via the platform which vegetables can be harvested and what the portions are. On Sundays and Mondays Rielse erven is closed for self-harvesting. Do you have doubts about how it works or do you not yet know how to harvest a certain vegetable? We then ask you to first join Aafke and Pascale for a while to get the hang of it. It is important that the harvest is done well in order to lose as little harvest as possible.

There are some tools available as you may be used to, these can always be used when someone from Phood Farm is there. If you want to be sure that you can harvest without waiting for tools, or if you are already harvesting yourself at a time of your own choosing, then bring your own harvest knife and harvest scissors. Also think of your own harvest bag, backpack or crate. Everyone has their own wishes in this, we notice from experience.

If you prefer to continue shopping without helping out in the fields, the harvest left over from the fields is also offered in the Indoor Phood Farm Shop (in the Phood indoor location). You can become a member if Phood Farm Shop Member for €120 per year and enjoy 25% discount on all products, tours and workshops in our farm shop.

It is possible to take 1 subscription and eat it together with the rest of the family. Please note that the harvest portion is for 1 person and you cannot harvest for 3 or 4 people yourself. If you want to harvest for 2 adults, you can take a subscription for 2 people.

In that case, you can give your harvest moments to someone else who can harvest in your place. Please note: new community farmers or people who step in will always have to join Aafke and Pascale on Thursday, Friday or Saturday first.

Harvesting takes place at locations where this is indicated (with color signs) and certain quantities and grammages per vegetable are taken into account. You will find a list of harvestable species, the quantity, location and the colors that belong to it. Limits are there to distribute the harvest fairly over the entire community. A small part will also go to the Phood Farm Shop.

You may walk freely through the garden at any time and enjoy all the beauty. Please stay on the paths and do not stand or walk in the vegetable beds. This is important because we do not cultivate our soil mechanically. We work with a ‘no-dig’ approach. By walking in the vegetable beds we compact the soil and this makes it more difficult for the vegetables to grow.

That is no problem. We ask for 6 hours of help per month, learning, connecting with each other and hands in the soil of the garden. A very pleasant and educational get-together. You can freely divide these hours per month and we are flexible in this. If you are unable to come one week, you can also make this up at another time. For example, you can come and help for 1.5 hours every week on Saturday morning or for example come every other week for 3 hours on Saturday or another day. See what fits your rhythm and experience for yourself what an enrichment it is for yourself!

We have chosen to have the recurring payments completed via SEPA Direct Debit or via any common credit card. For SEPA direct debit you only need to fill in your IBAN and details when signing up and your payment will be processed annually without any hassle.

If you take out an annual subscription, it is for a full year. If you wish to stop, you can of course do so at any time. Cancel the subscription before the end of your subscription year. If you are in the middle of your subscription, there will be no refund of the annual subscription.

Yes, that is possible. First send an email to [email protected] to register as a volunteer. We have a special process for this and will contact you first.

Most Community Farmers come by bike or even on foot! There is room for a few cars on or near the site, but we encourage everyone to come by bike, on foot or by public transport. There is a bus stop less than a five minute walk away.

Yes, that is no problem. Feel free to bring along, the more the merrier. If they also want to join in the self-harvest, click here to take a Community Farmer – Pick-your-own-garden Trial Day.

Yes, we encourage that! If someone signs up through you, you will receive 25 euros shopping credit in the Phood Farm farm shop.
